5 Fall Pillow Combinations

It’s that time of year, and it is one of my favorites, Fall!  As the days get shorter and the weather begins to cool down, we find ourselves inside more and more!

It’s the perfect time to refresh our spaces to feel cozy and welcoming.  Changing up your throw pillows is one of the easiest, most inexpensive ways to create a new look in your home for a brand new season.  

To help you as you decorate your home for fall, I have created some tips on how to incorporate throw pillows.  And even better, I have created 5 designer approved throw pillow combinations that will give all of the fall vibes!

It’s important when choosing any pillow combination to consider mixing up sizes.  To add variety and visual interest, create a group of one large, medium, and small (lumbar) pillow to the mix.  Always put the largest pillow in the back and layer from largest to smallest in the front!

Another important thing to consider when buying and grouping throw pillows is the combination of prints.  I recommend mixing solid, organic, and geometric prints.  Adding a variety of prints will add that special wow factor.  

Buying pillow covers is a great option.  When buying a pillow cover, choose an insert one size larger than your pillow cover so they look fluffy and overstuffed.  For example, with a 20″ pillow, choose a 22″ insert.  

Black and white is always in season, not just for fall.  Consider using a combination like this all year round and adding a colorful throw blanket.  

These fall pillow combinations are a great way to transition your decor.   Remember to vary your textures, fabric, and materials to create depth.  Toss them on the sofa, entry bench, or even on the bed for a cozy fall inspired look.
